From our extensive experience across more than 450 projects, and customers' principle concerns, we have evolved the following distinct models of customer engagement. Each model addresses a specific level of preparedness on your part. Together, they offer you a wide spectrum of transparent, flexible and responsive outsourcing relationships to choose from - as also a ladder for scalability.
Offshore Development:
DSS carries out the entire software development at their own premises in India as per the functional requirements defined by the customer. A detailed project plan comprising milestones, guidelines and schedules is evolved and customer's approval is obtained. The customer retains control over the project through interaction over the Internet and regular conference calls, status reviews, project reports etc. DSS’s institutionalized and proven methodology ensures customer’s comfort level and successful delivery.
This model is best suited where the customer has a clear idea, preferably including the specifications, of the development requirements.
Onsite Development:
DSS places the required number of software developers on customer premises, where the entire software development is carried out under customer’s supervision and day-to-day interaction. The onsite placement may be a short-term requirement of a few weeks/months, or may extend over a longer duration of a few years.
This model is recommended in cases where the project scope is evolving, the work involved is interactive in nature, or the customer needs to augment its own team.
Onsite/Offshore Combination:
While most of the development takes place offshore at DSS’s premises, some key person/s (Project Manager or Systems Analyst) are placed onsite at customer premises, for some suitable periods of time. Typically, work related to identification of exact requirements, system design, initial project planning etc is done onsite, while the coding and testing takes place offshore.
This model is suitable where the design work in the initial phases of the project and during subsequent reviews calls for a more intense interaction between the customer and DSS. It is also relevant for implementation of ERP applications, where an onsite core team is supported by an offshore technical support group.
Dedicated Offshore Development Center (ODC):
For companies who foresee a quantum of work on an on-going basis for a sustained period of time, DSS offers an exclusive team of the required skill sets for a fixed monthly fee. This team, working practically as an extension of the customer’s own workforce, carries out either complete projects or discrete parts thereof, or any ad-hoc software development work assignments to be defined by the customer from time to time. The management of this team, working with the time-tested and proven project management methodology of DSS, being entirely with DSS, the customer can avoid the hassles of selection, recruitment, training and day to day management.
For a minimum commitment of a team size of at least 10 members over a period of 12 months (renewable every 12 months), the customer gets economic prices and access to a large pool of technical manpower with multiple skill sets.
This model is very cost-effective for companies who have some development plans in place for the near foreseeable future, and are looking to target more value-added business opportunities.
Build - Operate - Transfer (B-O-T):
Companies the world over have recognized the benefits of setting up a Development Center in India. These are cost advantage to combat competition, a vast pool of world class technical resources, mature project management and economies of scale. What inhibits them from starting their own operations right away? Mainly, the lack of outsourcing experience and the planning required to enter an uncharted territory.
Here's how we offer "business risk mitigation". We will setup a dedicated Offshore Development Center for you - with our people, and at our cost - for a monthly fee chargeable only for the software development work. When this ODC starts functioning smoothly and begins delivering critical mass of work as per your comfort level, we will hand over the ODC to you at a pre-agreed transfer fee.
Thus, you could start availing the aforementioned cost and other benefits immediately, without having to make any major capital investment. And transition to your own subsidiary - with the required team in place - when you are ready.
